The Footprint Building
Churches & Historical Buildings
When the National Trust needed to procure a flagship sustainable building at the bottom of Kirkstone Pass, they chose to negotiate with lambert-gill.
Intended for use as an Education Centre, the Footprint Building was truly sustainable in every regard and featured recycled tyre foundations, recycled slate fill, straw bale and cob walls, managed/renewable oak frame, timber shingle roof, sheep’s wool insulation, log burning stove and hydro electric power from the adjacent water course.
As well as wholly sustainable methods of construction and materials, we worked with the National Trust team to enable volunteer involvement and we were able to work hand-in-hand with volunteer teams to give this project an even greater feel of innovation.
