Slaggyford Station
Sustainable construction
The Alston to Slaggyford line had been unused for 50 years but with Heritage Lottery funding a full reinstatement of line and stations has been carried out. The Client’s intention is to carry on this reinstatement to Haltwhistle and complete the original route of this line.
The scheme involved carefully taking down and re-creating the original Grade 2 Listed Station Building together with the construction of a new toilet block and signal building all to match the original previously removed buildings. The scheme also included reinstating platforms and lines and full new level crossing.
This scheme was very sensitive to the local community and prior to commencement and throughout the ensuing construction works, we kept the community fully appraised on an ongoing basis. The final scheme was completed to the highest standard and does justice to this high profile reinstatement of history.
